Sometimes on big or extremely active sites, the admin will get rid of threads that aren't being played in anymore, so that the boards aren't as crowded. Ever think that your character might have gone onto a land, or might have met a certain character, but you aren't sure? It might help you to keep your character's history yourself. If you're on a site where the admin hasn't put up a 'keeping track' board, you can do this on a saved word document just as easily.
Any questions?
-- When you keep your history, ALWAYS PUT THE LAND WHERE YOUR CHARACTER WAS when the situation happened, so that you know where your character has been.
-- KEEP ALL THE POSTS [both by you and the person playing the other character], either in full, point form, or with taking out the less-important parts. I'd suggest not to keep the posts in full, as it makes it harder to scan through in the future.
-- COLOUR CODE IT. Each character in the thread gets its own colour for the posts, and the speech is different than the actions, for easier reference. You could put the speech in bold or italic, but it's easier to find a different colour.
-- KEEP YOUR HORSE'S PROFILE ON YOUR 'KEEPING TRACK' THREAD. Some admins lock character threads once they've been accepted, so you'll never have access to the codes again [unless you pester the staff to get the thread temporarily unlocked, which is not the suggested action to take]. So keep it in your thread. Also, when you're starting to post in a thread, it's suggested that you put your character's profile and picture [or a link to their picture] so that the person you're playing with doesn't have to go looking for your character's personality and appearance, and when you're posting, if you're juggling a lot of characters at once, it may help you to have your character's profile in the Topic Summary instead of having to look for it.
